Hunter toasts annual ‘learn to homebrew day’

Hunter Valley residents keen to develop their homebrewing skills are in for a real tasty treat from this weekend.

Local shops in Port Stephens and Newcastle will join festivities throughout the world to acknowledge the 24th annual Learn to Homebrew Day.

Traditionally taking place on the first Saturday in November, the global event celebrates the most rewarding and delicious hobby of all time – homebrewing.

And, Noble Barons will host workshops, demonstrations and open days across their three retail outlets in the region.

It all starts at the Port Stephens Brew Shop, at Taylors Beach, on 5 November between 10am and 2pm.

The party then moves to the Weston Brew Shop on 12 November (10am-2pm) and the Newcastle Brew Shop at Lambton on 26 November (10am-2pm).

“Interest in homebrewing as a hobby is growing all the time,” Noble Barons owner Stu Farrelly said.

“People are interested in the craft of making beer and also the money they can save by brewing their own ales at home.”

The days will cover everything from getting started with basic cans kits, through to grain brewing demonstrations.

“These workshops are perfect for those who are curious to learn more about how to make beer at home,” Mr Farrelly said.

“The Noble Barons team will be on hand to educate people about the different types of ingredients and equipment available.

“Of course, they’ll also show you just how easy it is to make your favourite beer at home.

“Wherever you are on your brewing journey, this is a great opportunity to ask all your questions and learn about the different ways of brewing beer.

“We’ll have the BBQ and smoker going throughout each of the days, too, showcasing how to use our range of meat rubs and smoking chips.

“What more could you ask for?”
