Hunter scenery a muse for art retreats

SHARE

New Lambton-based Art House Studios has launched women’s-only weekend art retreats.

The retreats cater for small and large groups; beginners to intermediate artists; and change locations, from the picturesque Hunter Valley vineyards to Lake Macquarie and coastal hamlets in Port Stephens.

All meals and materials are provided, with workshops running daily.

“Everything will be set up ready to go, so you can relax and recharge and just have a play,” studio owner Priya Joy said.
“I think it’s really important for women to chill out with other likeminded women.
“When you’re at home, there’s always something to do; there’s always housework. It’s nice to escape that.”

The first retreat, held in the Hunter Valley last weekend, was deemed a success, with eight women registering to attend.

“It’s a bit exciting; there’s been a lot of interest [in the retreats],” Joy added.
“The demand is there. So, I thought, I need to do this regularly.”

Joy expects to hold the retreats every few months.

Art House Studios is conveniently located at Level 1, 268 Turton Road, New Lambton, near McDonald Jones Stadium.
