Hunter Netball has Blacktown City in its sights when the Netball NSW DOOLEYS Metro League returns to the courts next month.
The local girls suffered a 49-25 loss to the second-placed Camden & District on Monday night 26 June, however are determined to return to the winner’s list when the competition resumes after this weekend’s Junior State Titles.
Hunter Netball began its “Pride round” 11 clash powerfully, only trailing 9-5 at the end of the first quarter.
But, the more experienced Sydneysiders flexed their collective muscle in the remaining terms to prevail by 24 goals.
Coach Lexi Unicomb said the side would gain a lot from the defeat.
“It was a stronger performance in patches however, unfortunately, not consistent enough to get a victory over a top-ranked Camden & District,” she stated.
“Simple errors continue to prevent us from getting over the line.
“We stuck with them for the first 30 minutes… but they were able to shift gears, surge ahead and capitalise when necessary.
“It’s something we’ll learn from.”
Hunter Netball will face Blacktown City, who sits in eighth spot, when the two combatants meet at Netball Central, in Homebush, on 10 July.
Randwick tackles Liverpool City, Camden & District plays Inner West, St George District locks horns with Ku-ring-gai and Northern Suburbs confronts Manly Warringah.
