Hunter cleans up in caravan and camping awards

Beau Curtis is great with people.

Not only does the Port Stephens man know how to help holidaymakers maximise their down-time, but he knows how to get his team to adopt his “can do” attitude as well.

After a decade at Ingenia Holiday Parks One Mile Beach, Beau has been recognised for these attributes, winning the Young Achiever of the Year for Holiday Parks at the Caravanning and Camping Industry Association NSW Awards for Excellence 2022.

Accepting his award at a ceremony at Randwick Racecourse last week, he said he felt honoured.

“It was definitely a shock to the system to hear them call my name – I didn’t expect to win but I’m really grateful to be recognised,” he explained.

“There were so many other amazing nominees, so it was an honour to be nominated among them.

“Working in the tourism industry is such an exciting experience, and I truly love my job and my team at One Mile Beach.”

During his 10 years at the beachfront property, Beau has been instrumental in welcoming a string of new initiatives, including a cashless system in the park’s laundry and marketing initiatives with local sporting clubs.

Ingenia Holiday Parks general manager tourism Matthew Young said the award was a credit to Beau’s ongoing high levels of guest service, leadership and project management.

“Beau’s broad experience enables him to get the best out of his team, with his attention to detail driven by his time in multiple roles across the park ensuring the guest experience is optimal throughout all touchpoints,” Mr Young said.

“He has played a critical role in managing local area marketing initiatives including the Nelson Bay Marlins Junior Ruby League Club jersey sponsorship, Bay Area Board Riders Surfing Competition and Anna Bay Public School playground fundraiser.

“He has provided invaluable support to the team and is always willing to jump in and help out in any way possible – his ‘can do’ attitude is the epitome of leading by example.”
