Hunter-based ‘foodies’ champions in their fields

Three Hunter-based ventures are “champions” in their field, according to the 2022 Sydney Royal Fine Food Show.

Anna Bay’s Pasta Di Porto Pty Ltd received a gold medal for its Tasmanian smoked salmon, lemon oil and fresh dill ravioli in squid ink pasta.

And, for good measure, the company’s portobello mushroom, roast garlic and truffle ravioli in porcini mushroom pasta was named the Champion Filled Pasta.

Gold also went the way of Lovedale’s Adina Vineyard and Olive Grove for its chili and garlic olives.

Newcastle’s Pudding Lady, in Cardiff, secured the Champion Cake for is traditional Christmas pudding, too.

Pasta Di Porto owners Peter Toth and Domenica Fedele.

After a month of judging, across seven individual competitions, the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) announced the winners, with results reflecting a rise in the quality and market demand of plant-based and gluten-free products.

Sydney Royal Fine Food Show committee chair Lachlan Bowtell congratulated all the finalists.

“The standard was very high, across all competitions, and our judges were very pleased with the exhibits,” he said.

“It’s great to see so many companies submit their products for evaluation.

“The Sydney Royal Fine Food Show provides invaluable feedback for exhibitors, by the best judges in the country, which will continue to drive product quality going forward.”
