HNELHD’s COVID-19 case total rises by 1,092

The Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) has detected 1,092 new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

Thankfully, for the third day in a row, no deaths were reported.

In the district there are 28 people with COVID-19 in hospital, two are in ICU.

NSW as a whole reported 7,615 new cases and 12 deaths – six men and six women.

One person was aged in their 50s, one was in their 60s, two were in their 70s, four people were in their 80s and four were in their 90s.

Of the two people who were under the age of 65, one had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and the other was not vaccinated. They both had significant underlying health conditions.

Of those aged 65 and over, one person was triple vaccinated, eight people had received two doses and one person was not vaccinated.

The losses were reported in Western NSW, Sydney, the Central Coast, the south coast, Wollongong, Port Macquarie and the Riverina region.

Across the state, there are currently 1,297 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 81 people in intensive care, 40 of whom require ventilation.
