The Hunter New England Local Health District’s (HNELHD) COVID-19 case total has risen by 902 after 541 positive rapid antigen tests and 361 PCRs were reported overnight.

It’s a decrease of more than 370 cases in comparison to yesterday’s 1,274.

Thankfully, the latest statistic also revealed there were no deaths in the region.

Across the district 29 people with COVID-19 are in hospital, two are in intensive care.

NSW as a whole reported 8,911 new infections and one death – a man in his 60s from the state’s central west.

He had received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and had significant underlying health conditions.

There are currently 1,005 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 47 people in intensive care, 15 of whom require ventilation.
