HNELHD reports 2,046 new COVID-19 cases

The Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) has reported another 2,046 cases of COVID-19 overnight.

It’s the seventh consecutive day where more than 2,000 were detected.

Across the district, 57 people with COVID-19 are in hospital, including four in ICU.

NSW as a whole discovered 16,199 new cases. Tragically, the state also reported three deaths – two men and one woman aged in their 50s and 80s passed away.

Of the two people who died over the age of 65, one person had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and one person had received two doses.

The person in their 50s had received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine but had a significant underlying health condition.

There are currently 1,270 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 55 people in intensive care, 17 of whom require ventilation.
