HNELHD reports 1,283 new COVID-19 cases

The Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) continues to record the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state after 1,283 were detected overnight.

Thankfully, the latest statistics reveal the region did not record a death.

Across the district, 32 people require care in hospital – one is in ICU.

It comes as NSW reported 8,931 new cases and the deaths of six people – four women and two men.

Three people were aged in their 80s and three were in their 90s.

Half of the losses were triple vaccinated, two had received two doses and one person was not vaccinated.

One person was from south western Sydney, one was from southern Sydney, one was from the Shellharbour region, one was from the Riverina region, one person was from the Mid North Coast, and one was from southern NSW.

There are currently 1,246 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, including 69 people in intensive care, 29 of whom require ventilation.
