The Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) remains the biggest region in the state for new COVID-19 cases, with a further 77 infections detected overnight.

That makes the weekend total 150, following 73 the previous 24 hours.

HNELHD is continuing to urge the community to get vaccinated and to seek testing if experiencing any symptoms.

The latest cases bring the tally, in the district, to 3,505 since 5 August.

Seven were recorded in the Newcastle (Jesmond, Adamstown Heights, Georgetown, Hamilton South, Maryland, North Lambton) and Cessnock LGAs (Weston, Cessnock, Abermain, Nulkaba) respectively.

Five each are from the Lake Macquarie (Belmont North, Buttaba, Fassifern, Jewells, Windale) and Port Stephens LGAs (Anna Bay, Medowie, Nelson Bay, Raymond Terrace, Shoal Bay).

The Maitland LGA uncovered two (both from Woodberry), with Mid Coast LGA also registering one.

Twenty-three were picked up in the Inverell LGA, 17 are from Moree Plains LGA, eight are from Tamworth LGA and two are from the Armidale LGA.

Twenty-two from the HNELHD were in isolation for their entire infectious period, 40 were infectious in the community, and 15 are still under investigation.

Fifty-six are also linked to known exposures or clusters.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded 244 locally-acquired cases as of 8pm on Saturday 6 November.

Sadly, NSW Health reported the death of a man in his 60s from Albury who died at Box Hill Hospital in Victoria.

He was not vaccinated.

In addition, the Service NSW app now lets you know when you’ve been to a venue on the same day as a person with COVID-19.

Make sure you turn on notifications in the app to receive these alerts.

If you need to get tested for COVID-19 there are more than 400 clinics open across NSW.
