The Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD) continues to record the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state after 1,373 were reported overnight.

It’s a jump of more than 250 in comparison to yesterday’s 1,116.

Thankfully, the latest statistics revealed that there were no deaths in the region.

In the district there are are currently 24 people with COVID-19 receiving care in hospital. Two are in ICU.

It comes as NSW reported 10,650 new infections and the deaths of five people- three men and two women aged in their 70s, 80s and 90s.

Three people had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine and two were double jabbed.

They were residents of Sydney, the Central West and Riverina regions.

Of the state’s 96,291 active cases, there are currently 1,072 in hospital, including 45 people in intensive care, 19 of whom require ventilation.

NSW Health continues to encourage everyone who is eligible to receive a vaccination or their booster dose to book into a NSW Health vaccination clinic or another provider without delay through the COVID-19 vaccine clinic finder.
