An initiative, which ensures everyone, regardless of ability, has the chance to succeed in the workforce, will serve up vital job-ready skills.
That’s according to The Mai-Wel Group CEO John Cleary, after the Telarah organisation officially opened its new Mini Woolies site this week.
The venture is designed to provide participants with a hands-on, immersive learning environment, where they can build confidence and competence in a retail setting.
It simulates a real supermarket experience, complete with Woolworths-branded baskets, shelving, signage and working registers.

Mr Cleary and employment services general manager Kyllie Tegg joined local dual Paralympian Rae Anderson and Woolies representatives at the function on Tuesday 3 September.
“We are thrilled to launch this innovative learning space, which is a key step forward in our mission to provide practical experiences that truly empower our participants,” he said.
“They’ll have the opportunity to practice key skills such as operating a register, handling stock and communicating with customers.”

Ms Tegg agreed.
“Our collaboration with Woolworths and Fujitsu on the Mini Woolies project is a testament to the power of partnerships in creating meaningful employment pathways for people with disabilities,” she said.
“This initiative not only equips our participants with essential employability skills and confidence, but also opens the doors to real opportunities with our industry partners, both within the Woolworths Group and other retail environments.”
The Mai-Wel Group became the 76th Mini Woolies location across Australia and New Zealand, a fact that delighted head of delivery, service operations and infrastructure for group enablement, Sheila O’Reilly.
“We’re excited to expand our program with the Mai-Wel Group,” she said.
“We hope the site will support young people with disability, building their confidence and independence for experiences in the future.”
