“Holy f**! That’s awesome! I’m getting cold shivers,” was a Hamilton man’s reaction after scoring $1 million in the latest Weekday Windfall draw.
The local resident held one of the two division one winning entries nationally on Monday 8 September.
And, when an official from The Lott called with the revelation, the jubilant father shared he’d just finished school drop-off.
“You’ve got a great job,” he exclaimed.
“Oh my gosh. Far out. This will help us immensely.
“I just dropped the kids off… I’m glad they’re not in the car because they would’ve already been spending it.
“My wife and I have been looking to do something nice and we’ve been thinking about an overseas family holiday.
“That’ll be a definite now.
“This is amazing. We’ll get the kids some nice presents for sure. They’ve all been working hard.
“We can pay off the school fees and the mortgage.
“It just allows you to do so much instead of working your guts out.
“It’s great news for the newsagency, too. They’re a great bunch of people.
“It really will make a huge difference.
“We’ll be able to help out the community as well… and just be more generous.”
His marked winning System 7 entry was purchased at the Beaumont Street Newsagency in Hamilton.
Owner Robert Burton said he and the team were thrilled to sell a Weekday Windfall division one winning entry.
“It’s fantastic news,” he stated.
“We’re all very excited and pleased it’s gone to a deserving customer.
“We’ve sold plenty of division one and major prizes over the years.
“I still remember our first one was 17 years ago, which went to a lovely lady who could fix her house with it.
“We’ve put signs and balloons up and we’ll be telling all our customers the exciting news.
“They always get a buzz out of it, too.
“Congratulations to the winner and we wish you all the best with your prize.”
The winning numbers in Weekday Windfall draw 4596 were 16, 7, 25, 12, 21 and 42 while the supplementaries were 20 and 32.
