The much-anticipated Huntlee Park will be officially opened this weekend – and residents have the chance to explore the new community facility.
To celebrate the occasion on Sunday 16 October, a fun morning of activities has been organised at the playground, located in Triton Boulevard, North Rothbury, following the ceremony.
From 9am until 1pm, locals – young and young-at-heart – can experience a petting zoo, a reptile talk, face painting, balloon twisting, boutique market stalls, food vendors, a make-your-own beeswax food wrap workshop and a stunt clown with giant bubbles as well as performances by Hunter Heroes.
Huntlee Park features a new play space, including a flying fox, custom-built barbecue area with a shelter and inbuilt seating.
It also consists of tall cube play towers, which are unique to the development.
Cessnock City mayor Jay Suvaal is issuing an open invitation to residents to attend the festivities.
“It’s great to see Huntlee Park available to our growing community,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to celebrating this wonderful new park space.
“It offers something for children of all ages and abilities.
“And, I am sure it will become a place for locals to come together to enjoy all it has to offer.
“My thanks go to the Huntlee community liaison officer, supported by Cessnock City Council’s Economic Development team with funding from the Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Events Program, for organising the event.”
The official proceedings kick off at 9am.
Huntlee, near Branxton, has already earned a reputation as one of the fastest growing suburbs in the Hunter.
At present, it boasts a modern shopping centre, an award-winning hotel, early learning centre and much more.
