Bush meets boho in timeless wine region winter wedding

Couple: Melanie and James

Goosewing Cottage

Not deterred by winter’s crisp mornings, the risk of afternoon drizzle, or chilly evening temperatures, Melanie and James held their nuptials on the fringe of the Hunter wine region towards the end of June at Goosewing Cottage.

Set on the rolling hills of Mount View their rustic, 70s boho-inspired elopement became everything the pair had hoped for.

From the native bouquets to the earthy tones of the guests’ outfits.

The duo even caught the attention of the property’s curious locals, with young cattle observing the nuptials from a safe distance.

Like every other detail, the moment was captured beautifully by their photographer Adam from Cavanagh Photography.

The bride, her hair softly curled and loosely plaited, wore a flowing white silk gown with bell sleeves.

The groom looked dapper in a classic dark-navy, open-collared tailored suit.

The simple decorations included vintage ornaments, candles, and urns, as well as a tufted velvet loveseat.

Every detail was designed to ooze elegance and intimacy, with just 20 guests invited to share the occasion.

The one surprise the pair hadn’t expected but encountered was their cake.

The single tier, white chocolate raspberry cake by Chrissy’s Creations, was in the bride’s words “delightful”.

Apparently the guests agreed, leaving not a crumb behind.

Goosewing Cottage, says Melanie, also did not disappoint, its packages ticking the boxes on budget, planning, and seamless execution.

From its cozy log-cabin feel, to its inviting fireplace generating warmth, each detail lovingly included.

And, while she’d been dreading the fuss that comes with being centre of attention at a wedding, Mel and James’ celebrant Monty King had seamlessly lightened the mood with his humour and experience.

The group celebrated after the nuptials with a delicious meal at neighbouring Goldfish Hunter Valley.

Decades to find one another, the wedding was just a year in the making, and produced a day they will remember fondly forever.
