GALLERY: Variety Bash participants end week-long adventure in Newy

Newcastle must have been a welcome sight for more than 300 Variety NSW Bash participants at the weekend.

Following a week-long adventure raising over $1.2 million to support children who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability, the 32nd edition of the unique motoring event ended at Foreshore Park on Saturday 25 May.

There, they wrapped up proceedings with a Family Fun Day.

Newcastle resident Jamie Price and daughter Tracy formed Team Minion. For Jamie, it was his 42nd Bash for Variety, consisting of 27 NSW Bash events and 15 B to B Bashes.

Locals and visitors alike enjoyed entertainment, amusement rides, food stalls and the chance to see the colourful convoy of vehicles as they returned “home”.

The Variety NSW Bash brings together car enthusiasts from all walks of life, participating in a spectacular display of camaraderie and community spirit.

While raising critical funds for Variety – the Children’s Charity, during the 2,400km journey, more than $95,000 in grants were awarded to rural schools and groups along the route, including the Muswellbrook Heelers Rugby Club.

Other beneficiaries included Emmaville Central School, Yangan State School, Moonie State School, Begonia State School, Bymount State School, St George State School, Mungindi Central School, Garah Public School, Mallawa Public School, Mullaley Public School and Duri Public School.

“This event is a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts and it plays a vital role in helping us provide essential support children who are sick, experiencing disadvantage or living with a disability across NSW,” Variety NSW/ACT CEO Tony Warner said.

“The Variety NSW Bash is not just about the drive.

“It’s about the incredible people who participate.

“From seasoned veterans to first-time Bashers, everyone comes together with a shared passion for making a difference in the lives of children.”
