While the cause of a blaze, which ripped through a warehouse in Mayfield on Monday, is still under investigation, initial inquiries suggest it’s “not suspicious”.
Emergency services responded to a structural fire, at Hunter Valley Whitegoods, on the corner of Denison Street and Maitland Road about 3.30pm on 18 May following several Triple 000 calls.
Approximately 60 Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) personnel, aided by 15 trucks, eventually contained the inferno and lessened the threat to neighbouring buildings and properties.

An NSW Police spokesperson said evacuation orders at the site had been revised.
“The fire’s still being monitored by FRNSW firefighters,” he stated.
“And, while the response continues, the community is urged to avoid the immediate area.
“A small amount of smoke is emanating from the site, too.
“So, local residents are encouraged to close their doors and windows to limit smoke exposure.”

About 30 homes near the fire zone were initially evacuated.
However, most residents have since returned to their respective premises.
“Four homes on Denison Street remain affected by the evacuation order,” the spokesperson said.
“Occupants are liaising with the NSW Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the NSW Department of Communities and Justice.
“If residents locate any item of concern on their property they believe may be contaminated, they are advised not to touch them… and contact the EPA on 131 555.
“Denison Street, between Maitland Road and Waratah Street, is still closed to traffic and pedestrians.
“Maitland Road is open, with motorists reminded to drive carefully around emergency services vehicles and personnel in the area.”
