SHARE

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have mopped up a liquid chlorine spill that injured four people at Warners Bay today.

Several crews attended the incident at a pool services company on Hillsborough Road just before 11.30am.

It appears a drum tipped over, spilling around 30 litres of the corrosive chemical. Five people at the scene suffered chemical burns.

Four of them were transported to hospital by NSW Ambulance.

Firefighters from Charlestown and Cardiff Fire Stations put on protective suits and breathing apparatus, and accessed the building.

They decontaminated the area and rendered the business safe around 90 minutes after the incident.
