Four men have now been charged over an alleged aggravated break and enter and child abduction in Muswellbrook last month.

Police were called to a home in Richmond Street in the early hours of Saturday 6 June following reports four men had forced their way into the property.

Officers were told a male occupant was allegedly assaulted with a bottle, leaving him with facial injuries and concussion.

Two children, aged seven and four, were also allegedly taken from the home during the incident.

Following a short foot pursuit, police arrested a 36-year-old man and recovered the children a short distance from the property.

The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment.

The 36-year-old was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station and charged with special aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence involving wounding.

He was refused bail and is due to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 5 August.

Further inquiries led police to arrest another three men on Friday 17 July.

He was charged with special aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence involving wounding, as well as taking or detaining a child with intent to remove them from parental control.

Later that day, two men aged 23 and 27 were arrested at Muswellbrook Police Station.

Both were charged with aggravated break and enter and child-related offences.
