Noted rugby league funnyman Bryan Fletcher is set to have the audience rolling in the aisles at the Cessnock Leagues Club this week.
The former Sydney Roosters, South Sydney Rabbitohs and Wigan Warriors star, as well as one half of the Fletch and Hindy duo, will join MC – and Triple M NRL commentator – Anthony Maroon on Friday 15 November to raise funds for the Goannas.
Guests also have an opportunity to bid on some exceptional sports memorabilia, including signed Terry Lamb, Penrith Panthers, John Sattler and Mike Tyson items.
Fletcher will not only regale the crowd with his on-field feats, such as his role in the “hand grenade” try celebration in the 2000 State of Origin series, but humorous anecdotes away from the playing paddock, too.
Since his retirement, he’s developed a successful media career, as well as starting his own cleaning company alongside his business partner.
But, he started his top-level career with the Roosters in the 1997 ARL season.
Despite only boasting 24 NRL appearances, the second-rower was selected to play for Australia in the 1999 Rugby League Tri-Nations tournament.
He stayed with the Tricolours until 2002, moving to arch-rivals South Sydney in 2003, winning the organisation’s Best and Fairest award that season.
Fletcher remained club captain until 2005, before heading to England to link up with Wigan.
Throughout his illustrious career, he acquired 13 Test caps for the Kangaroos, as well as 14 games for the NSW Blues.
He also contested the 2000 grand final with the Roosters, narrowly losing to the Brisbane Broncos, was part of the Australian team that annihilated New Zealand 52-0, and enjoyed a 3-0 whitewash against Queensland in 2000.
Afterwards, he appeared on Channel 9’s The Footy Show and Fox Sports’ Monday Night with Matty Johns.
Since he started presenting, Fletcher’s won over thousands of fans with his dry sense of humour.
He’s a co-host, alongside Joel Caine, on the Joel and Fletch Sydney radio show on SEN, airing Monday to Friday between 3pm and 6pm, as well.
