Fire investigators determining cause of Maitland blaze

SHARE

Expert Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) investigators are examining what sparked a major blaze overnight in the Lower Hunter.

Emergency services were called to a therapy business, in Maitland’s High Street industrial complex, about 4.24am on Thursday 1 February.

More than 30 firefighters from eight trucks responded to the urgent situation.

And, they were forced to cut their way into the property to contain and extinguish the fire, which took approximately two hours.

Their quick actions prevented flames from spreading into adjoining businesses.

But, the therapy business and its contents, including four cars, suffered significant damage.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported and no evacuations.

The investigators are now sifting through the debris, using an Ignitable Liquid Detection dog to determine the cause of the fire.

Firefighting operations were supported by NSW Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics.
