Festival to make triumphant return

SHARE

After an eleventh-hour cancellation last year due to bad weather, organisers of Spring Awakening are in full swing to make this year’s event the biggest and best yet.

Planned for Friday 6 September at Cessnock TAFE Campus, the free family festival will usher in the new season with food, music, live entertainment, magic and illuminated displays.

This year the world-renowned Junkyard Beats will bring their dynamic rhythm show to the stage, with a series of high-energy routines that include body percussion, fire drumming and comedic skits.

Joining them will be local boys Outback Radio, who will have the crowd up on their feet and dancing the night away with their signature style of blues-infused rock.

There will also be roving performers, including some amazing sleight-of-hand from JD’s World of Magic, and creative activities for the kids.

If that’s not enough, festival-goers can warm themselves around flaming sculptures and fire pits or delight in gourmet food trucks brimming with flavour.

The evening kicks off at 5.30pm with a lantern parade from Cessnock Performing Arts Centre to the TAFE grounds, where the festival starts at 6pm and runs until 9pm.
