Fashionable Beaumont Street turns on the style

SHARE

Beaumont Street will be adorned with colour, and plenty of style, when it plays host to its annual Fashions on the Footpath this week.

From 10am until 1pm, on Friday 29 October, local retailers Calendar Girl, I Am Billie Boots, Fever Dream, July Jones Style Studio, Lotus Fashion, Sports Power, Goldies Dress Hire, Fynde on Beaumont and Teachers Health are gearing up to showcase Hamilton’s diverse “vogue” offerings.

After the success of last year’s event, which literally stopped traffic, and following consultation with participants, the Hamilton Business Improvement Association (HBIA) is once again taking the suburb’s one-of-a-kind fashion to the “southern end of the street”.

Fashions on the Footpath returns to Hamilton’s Beaumont Street on Friday.

Originally created by the HBIA in 2020 in an attempt to bolster visitation to shops after the first wave of COVID-19, the activation has proven to be an innovative way to promote the best of the Hamilton retail sector.

It also cements the fact shopping local in the vibrant suburb is easy with so many unique boutiques to choose from.

Now, they’ll stage their own short pop-up fashion shows on the footpath in front of their respective stores.

“COVID-19 has once again presented obvious roadblocks for all our local businesses over the past 12 weeks,” HBIA chair Evan Reid said.

“We have very established retailers here who have all managed to make it through this pandemic.

“Activating the precinct in this way promotes and supports our retail and hospitality offering, as people enjoy the parade fun and stop off for lunch.”

One retailer looking forward to Friday’s event is Janice Musumeci, owner of July Jones Style Studio.

“Fashions on the Footpath means we are able to bring colour and fun back to Beaumont Street – and mingle with our local community again after the toughest period of lockdown,” she said.

“This COVID-safe event provides businesses the opportunity to collaborate and celebrate, too.”

Fashions on the Footpath is just the first of many exciting extravaganzas facilitated by the association over the next couple of months.

Other highlights include Hamilton celebrating 150 years in December and the annual 12 Days of Christmas festivities.
