Elderly man suffers chest injuries in Cessnock crash

It hasn’t been a Good Friday for one elderly man.

Just after 8.30am on 2 April, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) was tasked to Cessnock, by NSW Ambulance, following reports of a serious two-vehicle accident within the township.

Initial accounts, from the scene, stated the occupants of the car were trapped.

Local ambulance paramedics and emergency services started extraction – and treatment – of those involved.

Upon arrival of the WRHS, its Critical Care Medical Team began ministrations on an 82-year-old male, who was suffering serious chest injuries.

Once extracted from the wreckage, the man was stabilised by the WRHS personnel prior to being flown direct to the John Hunter Hospital.

No further details are available at this time.
