The Lake Macquarie suburb of Edgeworth may be bracing for some wet weather this weekend.
But, for one resident it will be raining in cash as well, after scoring a long-awaited $100,000 Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize.
The Hunter man took home the guaranteed bounty in draw 10471 on Thursday 17 June.
Straight afterwards, an official from The Lott called the jolly winner, who was going about his day working in the shed and was completely caught off guard by the thrilling news.
“You’re kidding; wow,” he yelled with happiness.
“What did I win? I can’t believe it.
“I’ve been playing lottery for the past 60 years, every week. The exact same numbers, too.
“I’ve never given up.
“I knew a win would eventually come my way.
“I don’t know how to comprehend this. My wife is listening in.
When asked how he planned to enjoy his windfall, the Edgeworth retiree said he was lost for words and couldn’t make any concrete plans.
“I’m honestly really not sure. I can’t think right now,” he added.
“Thankfully, we’ve paid off all our bills after working hard all these years, so we can actually enjoy it.
“I’m sure we will spend it on something nice.
“We just bought a house actually. Maybe, we will spend it elsewhere.
The winning entry was purchased at Cameron Park Newsagency, Shop 4 Cameron Park Plaza, in George Booth Drive.
Owner Yan Zhang said he was over the moon for the winner and hoped they take the time to enjoy their win.
“That’s fantastic news,” he stated.
“We’re always as happy as can be to sell a winning entry.
“It really puts a smile on all of our faces when we sell a first prize [winning entry].
“It makes the job truly worthwhile.
“Lucky Lotteries is one of our most popular games, it is drawn almost daily.
“The possibilities are endless.
“We would like to say a big congratulations to the winner and hope they accomplish some great things with their win.”
