East Maitland $6m ALDI upgrade complete

SHARE

East Maitland is now home to a new-look ALDI following a comprehensive $6 million upgrade of its store at Green Hills.

The supermarket – located at 18-20 Garnett Road – officially opened its doors last month, providing the community with award-winning grocery products and popular Special Buys, together with fresh fruit, vegetables and bread delivered daily.

It’s also supported by a team of 20-25 permanent full and part-time employees, offering a unique career opportunity in retail.

ALDI East Maitland features a larger store format and double the amount of parking with almost 100 spaces available to customers, as well as innovations that offer an enhanced shopping experience including simple navigation, expansive wooden produce bays and a modern interior design.

“This substantial upgrade reaffirms our commitment to the Hunter Valley,” regional managing director Andrew Tindal said.

“But, it’s our differences such as having never offered single-use plastic bags, utilising a coin deposit system for our trolleys and our tight product range that allow us to bring unbeatable value to our customers every day.

“Low prices are a big deal for ALDI.

“This is our fundamental point of difference and one that customers will notice when looking at their grocery receipts each week.

“Our ALDI East Maitland customers can also shop a range of weekly Special Buys, which have become incredibly popular with Australians.”

Mr Tindal said energy management remained a key priority for ALDI, too, with natural refrigerant technology and LED lighting a key fixture of the store.

“In June 2021, ALDI achieved its commitment to power its entire operations with 100% renewable electricity, resulting in an 85% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions,” he explained.

“ALDI East Maitland is also part of a robust food donation program, preventing unsold food from going to waste by donating products to local food rescue organisations.

“In analysis by PricewaterhouseCoopers, it was calculated that in 20 years of operation, ALDI has contributed a total of $30.2 billion to the economy with new and upgraded stores, local business partnerships and jobs.”

Opening hours at ALDI East Maitland are 8.30am to 8pm Monday to Sunday, with extended trading hours until 9pm Thursday.
