D’Vine Festival returns to the Hunter

SHARE

Hermitage Road is set to come alive this spring when the D’Vine Food and Wine Festival returns to Pokolbin.

The street-long gourmet extravaganza, staged across more than 20 boutique venues from 19 to 21 September, offers behind-the-scenes experiences you won’t find any other time of year.

Settle in for a lunch of wine-matched canapés, a gourmet picnic, relaxed Italian or Sri Lankan street food, burgers and even a wine-matched “Aussie BBQ”.

If you prefer small bites, there are many amazing, paired tastings and platters to choose from, all nestled in the pocket of beautiful Pokolbin.

When it comes to wine, head out on a vineyard walking tour and taste it straight from the barrels.

Stroll through the gourmet gardens of Yellow Billy, guided by a horticulturalist who will share their anecdotes and gardening tips.

Along the way, discover where your favourite glass comes from as you chat with the winemaker.

Beyond the food and wine, there’s an art show, gourmet markets and even dog-friendly events to explore.

Getting around the festival is easy with a $35 weekend shuttle bus pass, or cycle from venue to venue along the dedicated Hermitage bike trail.

Around Hermitage Association vice-president Joanne Bowskill said the personal connection is what makes the event stand out from the rest.

“Every experience, you’re meeting the winemakers, the chefs, the growers, the people behind the produce,” she says.

“There is a feel of being invited into their homes, sitting at their tables and sharing their stories; it’s our chance to invite you in for more than just award-class wine.”

For an exclusive way to start in style, attend an intimate Winemakers dinner on Friday 19 September, where you’ll be served by the winemakers and growers themselves.

Prepare to be delighted with a four-course canapé-style feast paired with eight local wines, hosted by Wine Selectors’ Paul Diamond.

Stroll, sip and savour your way through this street-long festival, where every stop brings a new taste and the chance to encounter talented producers you wouldn’t normally get to meet.

With canapés by the chefs of Yellow Billy and a cheese course from Hunter Belle served in a rustic barn at The Beltree, it’s a boutique Hunter Valley experience right on your doorstep.

Highlights this year include an Italian Festival at Nicita Estate on Saturday, complete with pasta-making demonstrations, gelato, classic cars and live music.

Visitors can also enjoy an art show in the Keith Tulloch Barrel Room, Paws for Wine at Glandore Estate, and hear stories straight from renowned winemakers.

Your four-legged friends can join in the fun, too, with prizes for best dressed pet, gourmet dog treats, tastings and a pet photo booth.

New additions include an Aboriginal Weave and Yarn workshop, Friday night’s Winemakers’ Showcase and a Sunday high tea with local sparkling wine at Elliott’s @ Oakvale.

D’Vine isn’t just a festival, it’s a warm invitation from neighbours, offering experiences that make this weekend truly memorable.
