WEDNESDAY 14 JANUARY UPDATE:
About 2pm on Wednesday 14 January, a 19-year-old man was arrested at Newcastle Police Station.
He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s) and affray.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 29 January.
TUESDAY 13 JANUARY:
Two men, both aged 18, have been charged following an alleged stabbing near Marketown Shopping Centre at the weekend.
Emergency services were called to a car park on Parry Street about 3.20am on Sunday 11 January.
At the scene, officers attached to Newcastle City Police District located a teenager who had sustained a stab wound to his neck and head.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police then began inquiries into the incident.

Newcastle detectives and the Northern Operations Support Group attended a home in Rutherford about 11.25am on Tuesday 13 January.
Following a search of the premises, two 18-year-old males were arrested and taken to Maitland Police Station.
One of the men was indicted for wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s); and affray.
The other male was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s) and affray.
Both were refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 on Wednesday 14 January.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
