A Dungog man remains behind bars after being caught with a firearm, cash and drugs during a vehicle search in the Hunter this week.
About 12.30pm on Tuesday 30 May, officers from Hunter Valley Police District were patrolling Main Road, Heddon Greta.
While there, they stopped a sedan under the direction of a Firearms Prohibition Order.
The search allegedly revealed a firearm, $18,000 cash, 70g of methylamphetamine and 34 oxycodone tablets, which were seized.
A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene before being taken to Cessnock Police Station.
He was subsequently charged with 13 offences including four counts of possess prohibited drug; two of knowingly deal with proceeds of crime; acquire pistol-subject to firearms prohibition order; possess unauthorised pistol; not keep firearm safely-pistol; and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.
He first appeared before Cessnock Local Court on Wednesday 31 May, where he was formally refused bail.
He’ll next be seen at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 9 August.
