Just before 10.30pm last night, a collision occurred between two vehicles on King Street Newcastle near the intersection with Union Street.
Police attended and conducted investigations with both drivers submitted to a breath test.
A 28-year-old female who was the driver of one of the vehicles returned a positive roadside breath test.
She was placed under arrest and taken to Newcastle Police Station.
The subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.232, more than four times the legal limit.
Her licence was immediately suspended and a court attendance notice issued to appear in Newcastle Local Court later in August.
