A man was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital following a serious single vehicle accident in the Upper Hunter this morning.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS), tasked by NSW Ambulance, arrived at Willow Tree at 9.25am on Sunday 31 October.

Local paramedics and the chopper’s Critical Care Medical Team treated and stabilised the 68-year-old male.

It is believed the driver’s vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

The gentleman suffered multiple injuries.

He was conveyed to Newcastle in a stable condition for further treatment.

The incident capped off a busy 24-hour period for the service.

Last night, the WRHS also tended to a child, who was injured while playing on a trampoline at a residence in Ferodale, near Raymond Terrace.

Paramedics and the Critical Care Medical Team were quick to treat the five-year-old.

The young boy, suffering head injuries, was then taken to John Hunter Hospital by NSW Ambulance in a stable condition.

The Critical Care Medical Team escorted the youngster, too, for further investigation and treatment.

Then, on Saturday 30 October, the WRHS ventured to the Paterson River, Paterson, about 11.55am.

Paramedics and the Critical Care Medical Team oversaw a 15-year-old girl, who suffered a badly broken leg following an accident while swinging from a bridge over the water.

The teenager was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
