Dora Creek Swampies keen to bounce back in NHRL

SHARE

Following a shock loss, the Dora Creek Swampies will be keen to bounce back in Newcastle Hunter Rugby League (NHRL) this weekend.

The second-placed outfit, boasting the likes of Liam Foran, Jake Dooley, Josh Miles and Iobe Taukeisalili, succumbed to the Cardiff Cobras 20-18 on Anzac Day.

But, they’ll have the opportunity to make amends when they tackle men’s A grade rivals Maitland at the Dora Creek Workers Club Oval on Saturday 3 May.

That’s if the weather doesn’t intervene with ground closures.

It’s understood the club is committed to making a positive impact on and off the field in 2025.

Hence the signings of former ex-NRL player Foran, who’s enjoyed stints at the Aberdeen Tigers, Denman Devils and Cessnock Goannas in recent years, and former South Newcastle Lion Dooley.

Then, throw the likes of Miles, a captain-coach within the Hunter Valley Group 21 ranks, and talented hooker Taukeisalili into the mix… and it all bodes well for the Swampies moving forward.

The experienced quartet’s also assisting the club’s juniors as they prepare for the rigours of senior footy.

Kick-off is at 3pm.

  • FOOTNOTE: Due to excessive rain and the amount of fields affected, round four has been officially washed out. All games will now be moved to the weekend of 16-18 May.
