Doll Haus Cabaret and Burlesque gives local performers a stage

SHARE

Novocastrians are in for a night of “fun, glamour and excitement” if they attend the Doll Haus Cabaret and Burlesque show this Saturday (6 November).

Hosted at the Gallipoli Legion Club ‘Gal’ (3/5 Beaumont St, Hamilton), the event is set to inspire while promoting diversity and giving local performers a stage.

Organisers are excited to “get the show on the road” after COVID-19 kept ruining their schedule.

“We’re trying to get more events happening at the Gal and more arts and culture in Newcastle,” performer and producer Vudu Doll said.

“So we’ve decided to run our Doll Haus Cabaret and it’s going to be great.

“We’ve got burlesque performers, circus, fire, comedy, you name it we’ve got it.

“It’s all socially distanced and about giving people a space where they can hone their art.

“It is a space where it doesn’t matter what your sexuality, your gender, your colour or your religion is, everyone is welcome whether you’re a performer or part of the audience.”

Kicking off at 7.30pm tickets start at $35.

Anyone who is not in Newcastle or isn’t comfortable or able to leave their home can purchase tickets to watch the show via livestream.

Vudu Doll encourages people to support their work in any way they can – the last 18 months have been very difficult for performers right across the country.

“Don’t hesitate, please buy a ticket and come,” Vudu Doll said.

“It’s going to be a great night out helping Newcastle get back on its feet by supporting the Gallipoli Legion Club and your local artistic people.”

The Gal will be at half capacity and COVIDSafe measures will be in place.

There will also be a best dressed competition with prizes supplied by several different sponsors.
