The devastated owners of Tamburlaine Organic Wines are today counting the cost of a blaze, which tore through their Pokolbin premises overnight.
At about 9.30pm on Thursday 23 March, 16 trucks and more than 50 local firefighters from the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) and Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) were called to the venue on McDonalds Road.
Sadly, when crews arrived, one of the main structures was already alight.
Emergency services then worked for four-and-a-half hours to extinguish a large building fire until it was declared contained at approximately 2am.
While the function centre at the winery has been destroyed, firefighters were able to stop the spread of the blaze to any other buildings on the property.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Investigators will now work to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
Tamburlaine Organic Wines’ Hunter winery was purchased in 1985 and centres on creating organic, vegan-friendly and biodegradable wines.
