Darren Hicks has won the first road cycling event of the Paralympic Games, taking out the men’s C2 time trial in Tokyo.
Hicks added a gold medal to his silver won last week in the men’s C2 3,000 metres individual pursuit at the Izu Velodrome.
The 36-year-old, who had part of his leg amputated seven years ago after a motor accident, stopped the clock in the 24km time trial at 34 minutes 39.78 seconds.
Hicks was was more than a minute and a half faster than silver medallist Ewoud Vromant of Belgium with Frenchman Alexandre Leaute securing the bronze.
