SHARE

A cyclist was rushed to hospital this afternoon after being struck by a car towing a caravan on the Pacific Highway north of Newcastle.

Numerous police officers and NSW Ambulance paramedics converged on the scene following reports of a serious motor vehicle accident near the North Arm Cove exit.

It is believed a man in his 50s was hit while riding his bicycle on the motorway.

While police controlled the heavy flow of traffic, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service’s medical crew and paramedics treated the male for a serious head injury.

He was then conveyed to John Hunter Hospital.
