SHARE

Police are appealing for dashcam footage after a cyclist died following a hit and run incident at Nords Wharf on Sunday morning.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Awabakal Drive about 11am on 14 December.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District then received information a cyclist and a SUV had collided.

The rider – a 42-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

Sadly, he passed away from his injuries about 9.50am on Monday 15 December.

It’s understood the car, believed to be a black Toyota FJ Cruiser, failed to stop after the collision.

A manhunt is now underway to locate the driver.

While the Crash Investigation Unit continues its inquiries, police seek anyone with information, or relevant dashcam footage, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
