COVID-19 case numbers continue to drop in HNELHD

COVID-19 cases continue to drop in the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD), with just 28 new infections detected overnight.

It takes the total number in the current outbreak to 4,114, with 726 active.

Of the latest tally, only seven appeared in the Hunter region.

Five were recorded in the Newcastle LGA, with three at Warabrook and others at North Lambton and Maryland.

The Cessnock and Port Stephens LGAs registered one COVID-19 case apiece at Neath and Glen Oak respectively.

The bulk appeared in the Moree Plains LGA (seven), along with the Tamworth LGA (five), Mid-Coast LGA (four), Inverell LGA (four) and Armidale LGA (one).

Twenty-one cases are linked and 18 were infectious in the community.

Ten are being cared for in hospital, with three people in ICU.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded 182 new locally-acquired infections as of 8pm on Friday 19 November.

Four cases have been excluded following further investigation, bringing the total number in the state since the beginning of the pandemic to 79,457.

There are currently 191 people admitted to hospital, with 28 in intensive care, 17 of whom require ventilation.

Across NSW, 94.3% of residents aged 16 and older have received a first dose of a vaccine, and 91.7% are fully-vaccinated.

Of the people aged 12-to-15, 80.9% have received a first dose of vaccine, and 74.9% are fully-vaccinated.
