SHARE

Construction on the Cessnock Road Cycleway continues as stage four of the project has recently been completed.

The project consists of more than two kilometres of concrete cycleway commencing from James Leslie Drive and finishing at the existing pedestrian overpass at the New England Highway near Walker Street.

Work continues on Stage two of the project, a cycleway from Fishery Creek to Dagworth Road, which will connect previously completed stages.

Construction is expected to be complete by June.

“We are pleased to continue work on the delivery of the Cessnock Road Cycleway Project which will link Gillieston Heights to Maitland CBD,” Infrastructure Project Engineer Chris Pinchen said.

“Once complete, our community will benefit from greater access to Maitland Park and Maitland businesses, as well as the positive impacts that outdoor activity adds to the health and wellbeing of our community.

The $2.45 million project has been funded through Maitland City Council’s developer contributions associated with the Gillieston Heights residential development, capital funding and a $950,000 grant under the Stronger Country Community Funds Round 1.
