Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a child has tragically died at a Lake Macquarie home.
It is believed NSW Ambulance crews rushed to Rosemary Row, at Rathmines, about 2.30pm on Monday 15 August following reports the toddler was unresponsive after being hit by a vehicle in the driveway.
Upon arrival, paramedics treated the 22-month-old.
However, the youngster died at the scene.
Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District are now investigating the incident.
But, a 38-year-old male driver was taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
