A 60-year-old Charlestown man has been handed a $1,000 fine by Lake Macquarie Police District for failing to self-isolate as per his obligations under the Public Health Act (COVID-19 Border Control).

Police issued the fine after the man had reportedly returned from a pub where he had been drinking, despite being directed to self-isolate for 14 days after returning to Newcastle from Victoria on Monday 13 July.

Anyone who has information regarding individuals or businesses in breach of the government’s COVID-19-related directions is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Meanwhile, the latest figures from NSW Health, as of 7am today, show there are currently only five active cases in the Hunter Region.

Two of those are in the 2290 postcode; two are in the 2315 postcode; and one is in the 2316 postcode.
