Charity calendar to support vital work

Calling all charitable pets, your faces are needed for a new calendar.

With COVID-19 putting a stop to so much this year, ALL 4 One; ALL 4 Love is still determined to try and make a difference.

The Hunter-based charity, which supports children living with cancer and non-infectious blood disorders, is hoping this new calendar will help fill the fundraising hole left by the pandemic.

“This year because of COVID-19 and that issue we haven’t been able to do our annual fundraiser, we usually have a Christmas in July event and a boat race,” spokesperson Jessica Williams said.

“Usually at those events we can make over $10,000, so it’s a massive loss.

“We were trying to come up with ideas to help raise some money and we came up with the idea for the calendar.”

So, the mission to find some photogenic pets and their people to fill the calendar began.

The group has set up a Facebook event page for people to submit photos of themselves and their animals to go in the running to feature within the calendar.

It has also reserved four months for the highest bidders and is encouraging businesses to sponsor the page which could feature its staff’s animals.

Interested applicants have until next Wednesday 4 November to enter the competition.

Ms Williams added that there were other ways people could support the charity to help them through the rest of this challenging year.

She said one of the best things people could do was help spread the word about the work the charity does.

“Like our Facebook page and follow our Instagram to get the word out,” she said.

“We also welcome and really appreciate donations, you just need to get in contact with us through our Facebook page.

“The money donated will be used for our Bags of Happiness.

“We put them together with arts and crafts items and a voucher and take them to the hospital for children in the Haematology and Oncology Unit at John Hunter Hospital.”

The calendar is expected to cost $10 and will be available for sale in late November.
