Changed traffic conditions throughout the Hunter

SHARE

Motorists can expect to experience changed overnight traffic conditions throughout the Hunter this week.

Apart from the M1 to Raymond Terrace – Black Hill to Tomago and Hexham Straight Widening projects, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has also scheduled resurfacing work on a 1.4km section of the New England Highway, south of Muswellbrook.

To minimise any impact, it’ll be carried out, from Wednesday 12 June, from 6pm until 5am weeknights and is expected to finish by Thursday 20 June.

Single lane closures and a reduced 40 km/h speed limit are planned during the operation.

Meanwhile, construction continues along the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.

The work will require lane closures and temporary speed reductions at the following locations and times:

  • Lenaghans Drive northbound and southbound traffic stoppages and speed reduction to 40km/h from 7am to 5pm, Wednesday 12 June to Friday 14 June
  • Pacific Highway northbound and southbound lane closures and speed reduction to 40km/h from 7pm to 5am, Wednesday 12 June to Friday 14 June
  • Old Punt Road lane closures between Pacific Highway and Tomago Road from 7pm to 5am, Wednesday 12 June to Friday 14 June
  • M1 Pacific Motorway northbound and southbound lane closure from 7pm to 5am, Wednesday 12 June to Friday 14 June
  • New England Highway Tarro offramp eastbound closure and detour from 7pm to 5am, Friday 14 June (eastbound motorists will be directed to continue on the New England Highway to Hexham Bridge, where they can turn under the bridge and return along the highway westbound to the Anderson Drive exit to Tarro)
  • New England Highway westbound John Renshaw Drive off Ramp closure and detour from 7am to 5pm, Wednesday 12 June and Thursday 13 June (during this time, traffic will be detoured via Weakleys Drive. Over Size and Over Mass (OSOM) vehicles greater than the restricted dimensions will need to make arrangements to travel outside these hours)

TfNSW crews return to the Hexham Straight Widening project, on Maitland Road at Hexham, too.

Work is expected to take place from 7pm to 5am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night, finishing at 5am on Friday 14 June.

This includes:

  • Lane closure and a temporary speed of 40km/h will be in place on the outbound lane of Maitland Road between Old Maitland Road (west) and the Oak Factory at Hexham from Tuesday 11 June to Thursday 13 June
  • Contra-flow arrangements with a temporary reduced speed of 40km/h will be in place on Maitland Road between Old Maitland Road (east) and Old Maitland Road (west) on Tuesday 11 June and Wednesday 12 June
  • Lane closure and a temporary reduced speed of 40km/h will be in place on the outbound lane of Maitland Road between Sparke Street and Shamrock Street on Thursday 13 June

A temporary speed of 60km/h will stay in place through the project zone during ongoing day work and a reduction to 40km/h during night works.

OSOM operators with a ground contact wider than 3.2m are advised to contact the team at least one day ahead of movement on 1800 515 141.

Significant delays will occur if failure to contact.

“Motorists are advised to follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers, use alternative routes where possible or allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time,” a spokesperson said.
