Changed traffic conditions are on the cards for motorists as work continues along the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace this week.
Southbound vehicles will be diverted onto the northbound carriageway of the M1 (contraflow arrangement) at the John Renshaw Drive/Weakleys Drive intersection on Thursday 2 July and Friday 3 July between 7pm and 5am.
During this time, there’s no access to Lenaghans Drive from the southbound lanes of the M1.
Major construction resumes across the project from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday; 8am to 5pm on Saturday; and from 7pm to 5am Monday to Friday nights.
It’ll also require lane closures and contraflow with intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h at the following locations and times:
From 7pm to 5am, on the nights of Monday 29 June until Friday 3 July:
- M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
- John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
- New England Highway at Tarro
- Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae
From 7am to 5pm, Monday 29 June until Friday 3 July:
- Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill
- Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago
- New England Highway Eastbound at Tarro
Operators of Over-Size and/or Over-Mass (OSOM) vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres or with overall width greater than 4.5 metres are advised to contact the team on 1800 094 895 at least one day ahead of proposed movement.
Significant delays can occur if they fail to do so.
New Lambton intersection
Essential maintenance is planned at the intersection of Croudace Street, Lookout Road and Russell Road this week.
It includes installing new kerb ramps and replacing the traffic lights, posts, cabling and controller to improve the technical performance of the connection from Monday 29 June, between 6pm and 6am, Sunday to Thursday.
The intersection’s traffic lights will be blacked out during work hours with single lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h.
Heavy vehicles with a ground contact or an overall width greater than three metres are advised to notify the project team at least one day ahead of movement on 0403 167 894.
Elderslie Road at Branxton
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is removing scaffolding from a work site on Elderslie Bridge at Branxton.
That means there’ll be three bridge closures of up to 15 minutes, each with a crane in place, between 7.15am and 10.30am on Monday 29 June.
The lifts will be halted if any emergency vehicles require access.
Pacific Highway and Ridley Street intersection at Charlestown
Essential maintenance is slated for the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Ridley Street in Charlestown.
It includes replacing the traffic lights, posts, cabling and controller to improve the technical performance of the junction from Monday 29 June.
Work’s scheduled from 6pm to 5am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and from 9.30pm to 5am on Thursday, weather permitting.
The intersection’s traffic lights will be blacked out with single lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h.
Heavy vehicles with a ground contact or an overall width greater than three metres are advised to notify the project team at least one day ahead of movement on 0403 167 894.
Croudace Bay and Tallawalla Road intersection at Valentine
It’s a similar story at the intersection of Croudace Bay Road, Macquarie Drive, Tallawalla Road and Regal Way at Valentine.
Work includes replacing the traffic lights, posts, cabling and controller to improve the technical performance of the crossroads with new technology.
To minimise any impacts, it’ll be carried out at night between 7pm and 5am, Sunday to Thursday, from Monday 29 June for up to four weeks.
Single lane closures, traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place.
