Changed traffic conditions at Raymond Terrace, Maitland and Gateshead

Motorists throughout Raymond Terrace, Maitland and Gateshead will face numerous changed traffic conditions during the week.

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has scheduled asphalt resurfacing on the intersection of Richardson Road and Benjamin Lee Drive at Raymond Terrace from 29 January.

To minimise the impact on road-users, the work will be carried out from 7pm to 5am on Monday and Tuesday.

It’s expected to be completed by 5am on Wednesday 31 January, weather permitting.

Detour arrangements – due to shoulder lane closures – are in place on Benjamin Lee Drive, with motorists travelling east re-routed via the western end of that thoroughfare.

TfNSW personnel will also undertake safety improvement on Long Bridge on High Street, Maitland, including the installation of a new light pole.

The work is planned between 10am and 11am on Monday 29 January.

Although it’ll only take one day to complete, drivers will be impacted by a single lane closure.

Another TfNSW operation is arranged for Coral Crescent and Hickory Road at Gateshead.

The work involves replacing existing static school zone signs with new flashing signs to increase the visibility of the school zone at Lakeside School.

It’ll be carried out from 7am and 6pm, from Tuesday 30 January, and is expected to be completed in two shifts.

To lessen the effect on motorists during school zone hours, work won’t take place between 8am and 9.30am and between 2.30pm and 4pm.

“Traffic control, shoulder lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be operational for the safety of workers and road-users,” a TfNSW spokesperson said.

“So, please drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

“We thank everyone for their patience during this time.”
