Changed traffic conditions are planned this week to continue work on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.
Those travelling southbound on the M1 Pacific Motorway will be diverted onto the northbound lanes of the M1 at the John Renshaw Drive/Weakleys Drive intersection on Monday 16 March between 7pm and 5am while the project team undertakes asphalt work.
During this time, there is no access to Lenaghans Drive from the southbound lanes of the M1.
Residents of Black Hill are advised to utilise Black Hill Road off John Renshaw Drive or Woodford Street off Newcastle Link Road.
Westbound New England Highway traffic will be diverted onto eastbound lanes at Tarro on Monday 16 March and Tuesday 17 March between 7pm and 5am.
During this time, there’s no access to Anderson Drive from the New England Highway westbound.
Major construction resumes across the project from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday; 8am to 5pm on Saturday; and from 7pm to 5am Monday to Friday.
It’ll also require lane closures and contraflow with intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h at the following locations and times:
From 7pm to 5am, on the nights of Monday 16 March until Friday 20 March
- M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
- John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
- New England Highway at Tarro
- Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae
From 7am to 5pm, Monday 16 March until Friday 20 March
- Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill
- Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago
- New England Highway Eastbound at Tarro
Operators of Over-Size and/or Over-Mass (OSOM) vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres or with overall width greater than 4.5 metres are advised to contact the project team on 0423 323 946 at least one day ahead of proposed movement.
Significant delays can occur if they fail to do so.
Raymond Terrace Road, East Maitland
Utility investigation work is slated for Raymond Terrace Road between Metford Road and Harvest Boulevard, East Maitland.
To minimise any impacts, it’s starting on Monday 16 March, from 6pm to 6am, and expected to be completed by Friday 20 March.
Traffic control including a single lane closure, alternating stop/slow and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h is in place for the safety of everyone.
Operators of OSOM vehicles are advised to call ahead on UHF channel 40 to be escorted through the site.
Croudace Bay Road, Belmont
Maintenance is scheduled on Croudace Bay Road between Green Point Drive and Lewers Street, Belmont.
Lake Macquarie City Council will carry out the work on behalf of Transport for NSW (TfNSW), which includes asphalt resurfacing.
To minimise any impacts, it’ll occur on Monday 16 March and Tuesday 17 March from 8pm to 5am.
A detour will be in place for motorists wanting to travel on Croudace Bay Road.
They can utilise Green Point Drive, Crown Street, Daniel Street and Lewers Street.
There’ll be no right-hand turn from Green Point Drive into Croudace Bay Road and no left-hand turn from Lewers Street into Croudace Bay Road during this time.

Golden Highway, Jerrys Plains
Work’s also taking place on the Golden Highway near Wambo Street on the westbound and Pearse Street on the eastbound approaches to Jerrys Plains.
Town entry gateway treatments are being installed from Monday 16 March to Saturday 21 March from 7am to 6pm.
A reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be operational for the duration of the work.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
They should plan their trip, allow up to five minutes of extra travel time and follow the directions.
Swansea Bridge, Swansea
Maintenance will take place on Swansea Bridge after a defect was identified following a routine inspection.
TfNSW is carrying out the work on Monday 16 March from 6pm, with testing of bridge lifts between 8pm and midnight.
Southbound motorists should expect a short delay of up to five minutes.
The bridge will not be open to marine traffic during the work.
Main Road, Glendale
Maintenance is also planned for Main Road between Frederick Street and Lake Road, Glendale.
Lake Macquarie City Council will carry out the work on behalf of TfNSW, which includes asphalt resurfacing, on Wednesday 18 March from 8pm to 5am.
A detour will be in place for motorists travelling eastbound on Main Road via Frederick Street and Lake Road.
Emergency services, buses, trucks and residents within the work area can travel through under traffic control instructions.
