It’s already garnered the support of luminaries such as Michael Hooper, Grace Hamilton, John Eales, Alicia Lucas, Gordon Bray and Sir Peter Cosgrove.
Now, Hunter Rugby powerhouses Wanderers and Merewether Carlton will join forces this weekend to participate in A Day In Union.
The national online initiative is an opportunity to promote positive stories about the code.

Anyone and everyone can take part by sharing something they hold dear about the game on their social media channels with the hashtag #ADayInUnion.
“It’s a simple idea,” organising committee member Justin Bown said.
“But, it is really effective because it puts hundreds of optimistic yarns about rugby out there, just as we’re heading into a new season.
“It reminds players why they fell in love with the game in the first place and parents about the great things that kids get from the sport – on and off the field.”
As part of the festivities, the Wanderers will host junior trials against Merewether Carlton at No. 5 Sportsground on Saturday 6 April from 8am.
The program features nine matches from under-8s to under-18s.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of A Day In Union while showcasing the passion and talent of our young rugby players,” Wanderers junior sub-committee chairperson Greg Sellers said.
“This event is not only about competition trials.

“It also focuses on fostering an admiration for the game and building camaraderie within the rugby community.
“The matches promise to be a thrilling display of skill and teamwork, as young athletes from both teams prepare for the season ahead.
“Spectators are encouraged to come out and support these future stars of rugby while enjoying a day filled with excitement and sportsmanship.
“Then share what you love about the game.
“It could be something your child has done, a favourite moment or a photo of a beloved jersey.
“Whatever it is, we want everyone to show it by using the hashtag #ADayInUnion.”
The promotion also coincides with the Hunter Wildfires’ Shute Shield opener against Randwick at No.2 Sportsground.
