Two minors are alleged to have been inside a vehicle involved in a spectacular early-morning crash at Ashtonfield on Tuesday.
Footage of the incident has circulated widely online, showing a vehicle travelling at high speed before becoming airborne and crashing into a parked ute.
The incident reportedly occurred just before 6am on Tuesday 29 September, with emergency services called to the scene shortly afterwards.
Community posts accompanying footage of the crash claim both occupants were aged under 16, with one remaining at the scene while the other allegedly fled on foot.
Video shared by Maitland Accident and Towing and subsequently reposted online shows the vehicle launching into the air before landing heavily on the parked vehicle.
The dramatic footage has attracted significant attention across the Hunter, with hundreds of reactions and comments appearing online within hours.
However, details surrounding the incident remain limited.
As of Wednesday morning, NSW Police had not published a statewide media release regarding the Ashtonfield crash on its public news feed.
The circumstances leading up to the collision, whether the vehicle was stolen, the extent of any injuries and whether charges have been laid have therefore not yet been officially confirmed.
Given the ages of those reportedly involved, Newcastle Weekly has chosen not to identify the teenagers.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are understood to be continuing.
