It’s been a hectic couple of days for hard-working personnel at the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS).
A crew was tasked to a mine in the Singleton area about 12.30pm on Wednesday 12 March, after receiving reports a man in his 60s suffered a medical condition.
The patient was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and the chopper’s critical care medical team before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital.
Then, almost 24 hours later, the WRHS assisted with an incident, which occurred at the Glenrock State Conservation Area about 11am on Thursday 13 March.
It’s believed a woman in her 30s sustained multiple injuries in a fall near a waterfall, having been found semi-submerged in water by a passerby.
Due to the isolated location, the chopper’s critical care medical team was winch-inserted to the patient.
They were assisted by NSW Ambulance paramedics, NSW Police and Fire and Rescue NSW staff.
The woman was eventually placed in a stretcher and winched onboard the helicopter before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
