While it may look calm this afternoon, the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) is warning the Hunter coastline could cop a battering over the next couple of days.
The national weather information provider has issued a marine wind warning from 7pm on Tuesday May 16 through to Thursday 18 May around 2am.
Winds are expected to peak at 39 knots at times throughout this period.
The strong wind warning stretches from Byron Bay to the Eden coastline.
Port Authority of NSW has advised all ships in port be immobilised for the duration of the weather event.
Surfers are also being warned of rough swells at Newcastle Beaches from Wednesday morning.
